Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865)

People called him « honest Abe ».                                                      

Abraham Lincoln’s father could not read or write and as a child, he himself had little education.

He is best known for abolishing slavery in 1863 and his face is imprinted on the  American penny.

He was assassinated in a theatre in Washington by a fanatic actor from the South who hated him for his liberal politics.
